Friday's Focus - 2019/12/27 - Fresh Snow

The Focus this Friday is on "Fresh Snow".

We did a Focus a few week back on Snow, but this one specifically is on Freshly Fallen Snow, as opposed to snow that has been out for days. If you like braving snow storms like I do, you should have lot's of Fresh Snow photos to choose from. :)

Please add your Fresh Snow Landscape photos to this thread.

I will start with one from a month ago in New Mexico about 10 minutes from my son's house.

To be perfectly honest I go out of my way to avoid snow after living with it for 30 years. It can be quite beautiful and especially when it's fresh but seeking it out is not on my list of priorities anymore.

That said I will shoot it if I encounter it and this was a case in point at Bryce Canyon. I did not hike down the trails since Bryce Canyon mud is some of the most tenacious on the planet and your boots will accumulate about 5 lbs. worth of mud each in about 10 steps.

A nice one Alan. Bryce with fresh snow is awesome, I have been there a few times in snow storms and it's so cool.

I was born in the snow being born in December in Minnesota and I grew up in it. Perhaps since I left there at 16 to head to California all I have is very fun memories of snow and so like I did on my birthday a few weeks ago I purposely headed to the snow storm... Maybe crazy, but I love snow storms. I try every year to watch the weather and get up into Yosemite during snow storms too, the valley is so beautiful coated in snow, and the clearing snow storms are jaw dropping in beauty. But yeah, I know I am weird. :rolleyes:

While I wish it wouldn't it is the case that every few years it does snow in Vancouver and it can dump quite a bit in a hurry. Fortunately it usually doesn't stick around for long which is a Good Thing(TM) since this area has next to no snow removal equipment at all. We do have a shovel and both my wife and I know how to use it. This is our house after one such storm with about 8-10" in Dec. 2008:

We don't get snow that often, but right now it's like the biggest storm of the year here...
