My contribution is from a few years ago when I hiked down to 2nd beach for sunset. I met a young man who was showing off his gymnastic skills to his girlfriend (he was a champion just out of HS). He was nice enough to repeat some tricks for my camera.

I could easily duplicate that about as far as frame 3 and then would likely succumb rather ungracefully to gravity

Here are two beaches at opposite ends of the size spectrum.
Black sand beach on the island of Hawaii. The sand here is created by lava entering the ocean and exploding into fine particles when it enters the cold water.
A cobble beach at Otter Cliffs in Acadia National Park, ME The energy of the waves here is strong and thus can carry large cobbles and boulders and sift out the smaller sand sized particles.

Another great topic with many many excellent posts, and timely for me as I am just back form a quick trip to FL. Here is one of my favorites from the trip, a long exposure pre-sunrise image from Daytona Beach where we were staying. I managed to capture not only the orange skyline of clouds right before the sun came up, but the purple of earth's shadow, which the longer exposure setting accentuated. It was very fleeting, as images only a minute or 2 before or after this do not show that coloring in the sky.
