Forest Dependencies

Life in the coastal temperate rainforest is a long chain of codependencies and this is a nice example of that. The big leaf maple has dropped its leaves in this scene and the moss that covers the bark is thriving well enough to provide a home for the ferns to take root. Taken on a rainy day along the North Fork road in the Siuslaw National Forest east of Florence, Oregon.

We're all connected to everything. Impressive detail in this image that resembles a chartreuse daddy longlegs on steroids!
Thanks Michael - I never cease to be amazed and impressed with the forests of the PNW after spending most of my life in the arid environments of Arizona and Utah. The coastal rainforests are what lured me to pull up stakes and move up here over 25 years ago.

Beautiful detail of the greenery that covers this tree.. looks like a green land squid.
Good attention to detail, Alan.

Thanks Peter - this is actually one branch of a much bigger tree but this more isolated view had the best looking composition.
