Filter issue

After taking some flats with my Oiii filter something strange appeared in my photo view
I thought maybe a spider made a web and the light was bouncing of the web
But nope coating is coming off my Astrodon Oiii filter
The filter is around 10 years old so they won't do anything about it
I have decided to change it to a chroma 3nm I just don't feel comfortable spending $1700 with Astrodon for this to happen again

Wow!!! That's too bad Les.

For that kind of money it should come with a lifetime warranty. 10 years is a long time I suppose, but they should have been willing to at least give you a steep discount to replace it.

From what I have seen, Astrodon, ever since being purchased by FarPoint, does not have much stock. Almost seems like they are just going to sell out of their stock and then not make anymore. Chromas are currently the best out there, although priced accordingly unfortunately.

Purchased a chroma replacement unfortunately it has a chip on the corner when it arrived now waiting as was told there running a second batch as there first batch was no good

I am very Happy with The OIII from chroma looks like its Parfocal to the other Astrodons and is soaking up OIII on the squid

Good luck with this - these things are too expensive to be expected to put up with any defects. Let us know how this turns out.
