Fall Colors in an Evergreen Forest

Fall colors tend to be quite muted in an evergreen forest compared to the vast stand of deciduous trees in the midwest and the east but they do shout fall in their own way closer to the ground. In this example you are looking at the view from one of the many bridges that cross the North Fork of the Smith River in the Oregon Coast Range.

Hi Alan, this is a lovely little brook. I just wonder, have you ever used the CPL on the drones? I'm really trying to figure out how to get a cp to work on the drones

Muted is right. That said it provides a different kind of fall views. I like the meandering stream though the forest.

I had a CPL on my Air 2s and used it on and off. It had a 22mm fov and having the sky in the image was always an issue. However with the scenes like the one Alan posted, it can help with eliminating the reflections. I had it set to the max effect.

Thanks Jameel - this is up in the part of the Siuslaw NF that hasn't been heavily logged if at all so the maples are almost exclusively either well under the evergreen canopy or along stream banks as you see here. Drone shots I took in this area pretty much only showed the tops of the evergreens. Totally different story downstream where logging cleared the canopy and let the maples thrive.

I had a CP for both my old Air 2 and my Mavic 3 but was frustrated by the limitations of not being able to dial up the proper orientation of the polarized filter until I landed the drone and twisted the filter before sending it back up for the one shot it would be correctly set for. I have never bothered to get filters for either my Mavic 3 Pro or the Mavic 4 Pro.
