Appreciate that report Craig. Where are you headed?
We have been all over the place. Was at Ohio Pass this afternoon and in Crested Butte at the moment. Went over Independence Pass yesterday. I have a “reservation“ at Maroon Bells for 26-28. Will likely stay in Crested Butte area till then. After Maroon, head over McClure Pass and hit western CR 12 towards Kebler Then on down to Ridgway. Here are a couple from today in the Crested Butte area.

Picture taken in Saint-Ferdinand, province of Quebec on Sept 21 2021. The colors are starting to show but should be at their peak in two weeks approx.

Thanks Rick. That's interesting to me, I would have thought that Canada would have the leaves turning color before us down here since you are a lot further North.

Thanks for the detailed update Craig! The color sure is coming along nicely. You are hitting all of the best spots it looks like. It doesn't look like I will make it this year to SW Colorado. Too many things going on with my daughter North of Denver, and then I need to be in Chicago on Oct 1 where I will slowly be driving with family to Minnesota. It will be a Midwest fall for me.

East side of Mt Timpanogos near Mill Canyon Ridge.

The oaks are about a week away from peak and the aspen probably two weeks. The yellow in this Iphone images is probably ground cover.

I will process some oaks and show them later.

Here is a shot showing the oaks, as mentioned, about a week from prime

Thanks Monika! It's looking great there! Kebler pass and a few of them look like they will be peak in 4 or 5 days?
Definitely within the week. Where I was, a bit south & lower, things started changing really fast -- the afternoon of the 24th was very different from the morning of the same day. I didn't go to the Gothic area (maybe that's where Craig was?). Big variation in each area.

Things are getting started out along the west coast but mostly due to heat/drought stress. We had a very dry spring. Mojave level heat stress in June, and up until just over a week ago a dry late summer so trees are a month ahead of where I would expect them to be right now. We are about to get some more rain so the color changes might slow down a bit.

This is a scene from the Oregon Coast Range just east of the Coos Bay area along the East Fork of the Millicoma River showing some of the big leaf maples starting to turn. Maybe two weeks away from a notable peak. This picture was taken on Thursday 9/23.

Dillion, Silverthorne along the I-70 in Colorado

I would call it peak here. While there still some green trees, the majority have turned now.

Rain (snow in the mountains) is forecast for CB Wed-Fri, so that could hasten things along significantly. Hopefully, it won't just turn the leaves brown & drop off.

Nebraska - Windmill State Park off the I-80.

I would say fall colors in Nebraska are at about 10%. There are scattered trees turning a little color, but the majority of the trees are totally green.

Peak to Peak Hwy in Colorado's Front Range is ............. at peak. Cool & wet weather the next several days, maybe it'll boost the colors even more, or maybe the leaves will turn brown & fall off -- your guess is as good as mine.
I Phone shots 9/30 along the Peak to Peak & the road behind Gold Hill.

Sorry, I don't know why this one only loads in landscape, but you get the idea.

Will post a few examples in the next day or so, but was a passenger on a 4-wheeling excursion here in CO above Central City on Kingston Peak Trail and Yankee Hill trail yesterday. LOTS of color, but also with some bare sections. Not much green. Seems like pretty peak. Will be heading back to my favorite local spot tomorrow, Golden Gate Canyon State Park - will report back again after that.
