Fall Color Flyover

As I was leaving Minnesota earlier then I wanted due to my Jeep leaking Antifreeze I was driving through Northfield Minnesota and a movie theater caught my eye. As I passed it I checked, and they had the movie Shang-Chi playing in 5 minutes! It had been a week since I had last been able to see it, so I did a U-Turn and went back, getting into the theater after grabbing some popcorn just before the movie started. After getting out from watching the best movie of the year, I got in my Jeep and as I was driving out I looked across the street and behind a furniture store I saw a hill of fall colors rising above it!

This is in southern Minnesota so there were no real fall colors yet, everything was green still down there but out of no where was this hill with fall color! Now, I had driven by this hill 2 hours earlier and never even noticed it! But deciding to go see Shang-Chi gave me not only a great movie but a great fall color hill! So I drove across and stopped in an empty parking lot, got the drone out and flew towards the hill. I was just expecting to video the color on the hill as it rose up 50 or 60 feet in front of me, but as the drone crested the hill I saw that the color went on and on and on! Who knew?

It was sunset, so time was short, I was able to video for about 30 minutes before it just got too dark. So even though I had been disappointed in having to cut my fall color trip with what looked like a major engine problem, I was able to capture the exact type of fall color forest that I had been envisioning from the moment I took off on my trip a few weeks earlier.

So.... the moral of the story is go see Shang-Chi if you haven't already as you will be rewarded with beautiful photography afterwards.

PS. What had appeared to have maybe been a freeze plug leaking or worse since no hoses were leaking ended up being a cracked fitting going through the firewall for the heater. $600 later I was good as new.... :)

Ha! You can't fool me - you shot a closeup of your cereal bowl of Trix

Neat colors in those woods and the drone looks like the best way to see them.
