An Elephant's Head found on my morning stroll - Tahoe Meadows, NV. 6-22-26
Thank you, Alan. These are quite a nice find. This is a really cool plant and the bloom does resemble an elephant's trunk. Not sure I have ever seen one of these in bloom before. Wonderful light and isolation of the blooms.
Thanks, Jim. These are just coming out around the Tahoe area.Kurt, you have probably posted these before, I just don't recall the name Elephants Head. What a weird name for a flower! I sure like what you captured.
Actually, the mosquitoes weren't bad. I think I was there early enough in the morning so they hadn't gotten out of bed yet!Pedicularis groenlandica. One of my very favorites! Hard to photograph without getting bitten by mosquitos.........but I think you use a long lens for your flowers, so you were probably safe.
