Eastern Sierra Trip

man this is a great first post, and welcome to the forum.

That first looks like you were really high. Reminds me of looking down from the hike to Mt Whitney, but that was over 50 years ago,

The second is some great aspen against the sky .

That gnarled wood in 3 is really neat, bristlecone?

The last appears to be from mono lake, shooting from inside or at least through a tufa formation.

Great set.

Nice introduction - I love the aspen and the burl shot but what is that last image? I am guessing that this is the Navy Beach shot that Kyle mentions but I am unfamiliar with this place and what that last image depicts. It is quite fascinating.

Hello All,

I recently (well a few weeks ago) went hunting for fall colors in the eastern sierras. I'm still going through all my shots, but I wanted to just share a variety and not necessary just fall colors.

Hey Jason,

Good to see you here. My pick is #3 for sure. You nailed the texture and got a good range of tones in the wood.

Hey Jason,

I am glad you made it here! The wait was worth it. :)

You sure got some nice shots on your trip. I do like #4 with the Sand Tufa's a lot. I have shot them before but still haven't done one where I shot through it like that. Maybe my next time up there.

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome. I'm glad to see some familiar screen names here.

@Jeffrey, I agree the 1 st one does seem a bit flat. Perhaps the separation in the tones is not enough. I was thinking maybe I need to brighten the light lit areas some more and maybe burn some of the shadows to give greater separation.

- the gnarled bark is actually the root system of a fallen tree (evergreen i believe) shot around June Lake loop. I was hiking up a hill looking for some aspen groves and came across this fallen root system.

- the tufa shot was from Navy beach (at Mono Lake).
