The Dumbbell Nebula (aka M27 and NGC6853) is a planetary nebula about 1360 light-years from Earth. It was the first planetary nebula ever discovered. The nebula is the result of an old star that shed its outer layers in a glowing display of color as it collapsed into a white dwarf.

This is the result of over 6 hours of exposure time taken on 2024-08-02.

Awesome work Bill! Love the detail and coloring.

Other then a little quick Seestar imaging, I haven't been able to image Astro in over 2 months.

That is a superlative result. Lovely in every way. I think all of the astro cameras using versions of the Sony 571 sensor produce wonderful results - I sure like what I get from mine.
