Dawn at Zabriskie Point

My parents and I recently stayed in Death Valley National Park overnight because we won a spot on a ranger-led hike into a closed area that features lots of fossilized animal footprints from millions of years ago. Our accommodation was near Zabriskie Point so I got up early enough to see the sunrise from this iconic location. I was not disappointed!

Zabriskie Point is a neat place to catch the sunrise and this is a great example of why. Beautiful skies looking out over the Valley and some lovely light for the foreground formations.

Thanks, Alan. The light was terrific.
You scored big time with the colors that morning! What a way to start your day! Was there a crowd there already at that time?
Thanks, Michael. There was a quasi-crowd that was slightly smaller than the one up there for sunset. I had no problem moving around and getting shots without people in them.

Fossilized foot prints sounds great! Were you able to photograph them?

This turned out very nice of Zabriskie, it's a favorite spot for a reason. And there will always be less people typically at sunrise as it's easier to stay up for sunset, then to get up for sunrise. :)

Did you stay at the Inn or the Ranch at Furnace Creek?

We stayed at The Ranch. I think my parents will now prefer to camp rather than stay there again. And yes, I was able to photograph some of the fossilized footprints. Maybe I’ll post them later.
I love getting tremendous color like that while in a beautiful spot. Nice job taking advantage of it!
What a site...beautiful.
Awesome colors for this morning at an iconic location, no less. Lovely image.
Thank you kindly, everyone!
