Dartmoor

In fiction Dartmoor is portrayed as a wild, windswept, inhospitable place but it must have been in benign mode during my visit in September. In reality it is a plateau at about 1,000ft with granite Tors jutting up.

Dartmoor has "wild" ponies. They are actually remarkably tame.

This small granite outcrop isn't large enough to be called a Tor

As the day progressed the clouds dispersed and the sun broke through further dispelling the wild and windy image. This is a small section of Hound Tor with Hay Tor in the background

A couple of days later we travelled across Dartmoor to go to North Cornwall and the weather wasn't great but the place was still fairly benign compared to Scottish moors.
This is Brentor church and it is still in use for special services. Lots more images from the Cornish coast to follow. Ken

Stunning views in these images and some fun facts to give a perspective on what the scenes show. I am having difficulty picking out a favorite as I find something to love in each image. That said I do find myself scrolling back to the Bowerman's Nose shot. It does look like a postcard scene.

So awesome Ken! It's might not be as wild as the stories say, but I think this is still a cool looking and wild land! #2 and 4 are my favorites.
