Cow Elk in Spring

A couple of cow elk in RMNP during spring, still in much of their winter coat. There were about 85 elk feeding in this large meadow; all cows and calfs.

The winter coats look a bit on the ragged side but the animals appear to be quite well fed.

That first one is trying to touch it's nose with it's tongue!
