Coast to coast in April

Hi y'all, I am seriously thinking of driving to the East coast, it's been a long long time since my last coast to coast, at this time of the year, is there anything worth stopping along I-80 & I-90, any parks worthy visiting near the lakes ?
Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

That's a great trip Oliver. I have done it many times. You can drive across on the 80/90 and come back on the 40/10.

There is a million things to see, I think though you just need to open up the map and look as there is just too many places to mention. I will mention 2 places. In Iowa, the Iowa 80 - Worlds Largest Truck Stop in Walcott, Iowa. Then Chicago, go see the Bean. On the way back, swing down to the Smoky Mountains and Blue Ridge Mountains.

Thank you, Jim, back in 2007 when I did my first coast to coast, I had NO idea how vast & vacant the central part of US is, miles of miles corn field. This time I will check out some less traveled places.

Thanks again.

How long does it typically take you to drive coast to coast? I've not done the drive (yet) but it's on the list. Would 3 weeks be enough time?

Hi Michael, on average it's 5 days ? I would say, that's because I stop every so often to take pictures. It depends on if you make detours. 3 weeks is a very relaxed drive.

Hey Michael, it's as much time as you want. I don't have a typical time as I have done it for various reasons. The latest was about 3 weeks for an ultra slow, lot's of stops trip. Well worth the trip.
