Classic Sierra

Hi Barry, this is definitely a classic scene! I think the B&W is a good choice. I think I might pull back a bit more on the highlights on the ground to help soften the harsh light a bit more.

Thanks, Jim. I hear ya! I was trying for a bit more punchy contrast than is my norm, experimenting as it were, so it may be a touch bright.

I had teh same thought as Jim on the highlights. It is a great scene you have captured here, worth pursuing.

Ok, guys, I applied a slight tweak to the fg highlights. Mainly darkened a tetch and added a touch of contrast.
Better?

Hey Barry, it looks the same to me.

One thing I noticed that's odd I think is that the one you posted on FB it looks fine, of course I am viewing FB on my iPhone, so maybe it's dimming the highlights?

Gotta agree with Jim - that lower foreground still seems bright and flat. I can't make out almost any of the details in the very first line of boulders coming in from the lower right.

Ya mustav posted the same one, podnah! I love the shot, which goes a treat in B&W! The way the patterned peaks rise out of the chaos of the rocky foreground is wonderful. Never been to the Sierras, except passing through from DV to Bakersfield. Must go with you one time! :)
