A rather unique sandstone sculpture along my afternoon travels - Little Finland, NV. Jan., 2026.
I've been there twice now. They keep the roads in good condition with plenty of signage along the way. It's not very well visited but you will see people here and there. The camping is very nice - a quite area for sure.Very nice - I like the wind sculpted textures on this outcrop. Did you get a chance to fully explore this area? It's pretty far off the beaten path but that's usually a benefit since it keeps the casual tourons away. From what I have seen online it looks like an interesting destination.
I almost visited that area about 15 years ago with some FM photographers and was asked to research the route to get there and I dutifully hovered up all the info I could find on the place but the others in the group got cold feet over driving out there in a rental minivan once they saw the path. No clue how well we would have fared since I never got to go there. I did know enough to never even consider wandering out there with my RV.
It's worth the drive. Let me know how you like it!Thanks so much Kurt! This is a really cool view. I have studied up on it a bunch of times, and have come close to diverting off my travels to go there. I finally got to Cathedral Gorge this last trip, so hopefully I will finally get to Little Finland this spring.
I've wondered that myself. Seems a little strange....Nice find Kurt, an interesting place for sure. I wonder how it got its name though.
On a whim I looked up rock fins. That may be the origins of the name but I'm not sure....Nice find Kurt, an interesting place for sure. I wonder how it got its name though.
