Cathedral Valley

The Temple of the Sun and Moon are the most famous Temples in Capitol Reef, but they are not the only ones. Ben wanted to take us up to the north end of Cathedral Valley and show us some places he liked there. We had a fun day of discovery as we drove dusty roads. This was at one stop. We had an awesome sky that was dotted with clouds creating an ever changing pattern of light for us as photographers to play in.

All comments are welcome,

Jim

You guys are making me want to get back to UT, but I can't handle the heat so will have to wait for next fall.

I like this view with the mountain uplands rising up behind on the right. My first view of this area was from up on the mountain slopes looking down at this valley. Nice skies and light for this scene.

Great one Jim. That one to the right with the notch is the one I posted with the moo in the notch. This is part of the temple structure we see from cathedral valley overlook

Thanks Alan, Ben picked the perfect time for us to go.

This looks like a great spot to photograph during the morning or evening with those nice lines in the rocks, Jim. How far is it from Capitol Reef?

Thanks Doug!

To add to Alan’s comment, a huge portion of the eastern edge of Capitol Reef is Cathedral Valley. It starts down south below the Temple of Sun and Moon, and ends 12 to 15 miles to the north just above this area.
