Cape Arago Lighthouse +another view +edit

The Cape Arago Lighthouse sits at the mouth of Coos Bay, Oregon. Public access is closed and there aren't a lot of good viewpoints other than out on the water so distant views with a long lens in good weather is your best bet. The sand dunes visible in the distance are characteristic of the Oregon coastline extending almost continuously up to Florence. From Cape Arago south is a more rugged shoreline that is quite different that consists of much older geologic formations predating those to the north of here.

C&C always welcome.

Edit - adding an additional view of the Lighthouse. I hiked out on a small peninsula on the north side of Sunset Bay one day just to see what was there. Not really any established paths but I made my way out to a clearing with a view to the lighthouse up close. There used to be a footbridge where the cement piers stand down near the water. Turned out I came in through an unfenced part of what is now a restricted area and right after I shot this found signs on a 10 foot chain link fence with barbed wire saying something to the effect that trespassers would be violated. And I was on the wrong side of that fence. I ducked back into the woods and retraced my path back to the campground. I did not have my DSLR with me - this was shot with an iPhone 6.

Edit 4/15: New crop following some of the suggestions below.

Nice one Alan, I have tried many times to get a good comp here, usually the clarity is spoiled by atmospherics, yours is nice and clear.

Love the layers here Alan, i would consider cropping that tree on the right...
Thanks - I will look into some alternate crops. The framing here is SOOC.

Thanks - I have more than a handful of shots of this lighthouse that didn't work for exactly the same reason.

Very nice Alan! That is definitely a hard lighthouse to get a good shot of. Pretty nice DOF for a longer lens too.

Have you ever shot the Sea Lions at the end of the cape?
I have a pretty good stash of sea lion shots between Sunset Bay and Shore Acres and some more from farther south near Cape Arago itself.

There are some trails near the campground area at Sunset Bay leading out to the cliffs between the two parks with some good views of the sea lion sunbathing areas I have hiked several times. This shot was taken from one of those trails looking out across Sunset Bay.

The bright white of the lighthouse makes it fill up much more visual space than it occupies in the frame. It all works well for me except the foam raft in the lower right which is competing with the brightness of the lighthouse.
