Initially the Rcos Scope and the fli pl16803 camera was matched together at a resolution of 1.07 but we had issues with I believe what was called exit pupil totally making the images look horrible and could not flat them out. We decided to switch the camera out and put on the ml8300 this worked out ok but brought the resolution down to 0.6
Anyway with using synthetic flats I now can get rid of the flat issues so decided to put the pl16803 back onto the rcos

Hey Les, I am glad you got it working. You are the 2nd person in the last week who had mentioned using synthetic flats that I had heard of. They should like a life saver. Is it a lot of work to create them?

Great Luminance shot too! And I appreciate the annotated version. It's fun to look at that.

Jim it's pretty easy to do the flats you basically duplicate your image remove the stars from your duplicate then use clone stamp to remove the galaxy's then use morphology tool to give it a slight blur then use pixelmath to combine images
Pixel math is your regular image*mean(synthetic flats)/synthectic flat

Yes, the idea of synthetic flats is interesting. I have heard of them before but never dabbled with them. Could be useful for me with my gear located remotely and not always having the ability to collect real flat frames when I would otherwise do so. Will have to keep these in mind. Based on your results above can obviously be a powerful tool.
