California Nebula in HaRGB

I spent several nights on this target capturing the red, green and blue data separately before turning my attention to the intense hydrogen signal.
The telescope used was the Meade 80mm apo triplet
The camera used was the asi 1600mm, cooled to -20
Completely stacked and processed in PixInsight

This is so cool Steve. I really like the detail you got. I have shot the California nebula, but with only my DSLR it lacks all of the subtle detail you captured. I think I need to go back and try this one again.

Thanks! As far as target alignment, i plate solve. I have each target coordinates the way i frame them saves, so i just load the target and hit slew to and center. Nina does the rest. I also have marks on my focuser to match rotation when i pull the cam.

Excellent capture - lovely subtle detail and the extra added by the Hα signal is very cool. I have the same camera on a 4" aperture OTA, and have been planning to do a mosaic to try to get most if not all of this object in. I will likely now wait until closer to the end of the year so as to get some really long nights of collection on it, and probably image it in NB as well. I love your natural light + Hα version though, it is wonderful!

Thanks! Yeah i also now have the TPO 180 ultra wide field refrator...cant wait to capture it with that scope to get the whole complex.

Oh very nice, I have been considering that as a possible light travel OTA so I will be VERY interested to see how you get on with it! Please keep us posted on your experiences with it.
