Bowling Balls and Stars

I hiked out to Bowling Ball Beach Saturday night to take advantage of the moon setting at low tide. I started shooting about half an hour before moonset, hoping to get a nice balance between having some light on the ground with darkness in the sky.

Any thoughts are welcome.

Looks like an almost perfect balance of the moonlight and starlight - excellent result.

This looks great Kyle! I think you caught the perfect balance. I have never caught the Milky Way there, though I still hope to one day. My idea was always to have the water lapping at the edge of the bowling balls, but I do like the look here.

Water lapping at the edge is a challenge at night here. You can see that the rocks on the right are partially underwater. The places to stand are slippery at best and if you want to look down the row of rocks then if the water is any higher than this you are likely to be in the surf. Manageable, but it takes care.
