Blue “waves”

I like when the “blue ridge mountains” appear like their name suggests. In the receding sunset, they often look like almost like ocean waves to me.

Sweet - I like the almost endless ridge lines fading off to the horizon. Is that a cloud bank to the west or just the top of the haze layers just below the sky?

No solid cloud bank in that direction (South, more or less)--only clouds in that direction were wispy ones as seen. Other directions had more clouds. FYI, these were all taken with a telephoto zoom I am using a fair amount due to being asked to review the lens. These are all at 100mm focal length I think. Couple more for comparison each to the right of the previous image :

Oh my - what a positively arrestingly beautiful image! (and the 2nd one posted is no slouch either! ) I cannot say I have ever seen a more entrancing shot of that subject. Jaw dropping!

These are all great but my favorite is the one in your 2nd post the first image. Love the lines and color!
