One of our more iconic red rock formations is framed here by one of our more iconic blooming plants: the agave, commonly known as a century plant. These large flower stalks pop up in June in our high desert terrain and can be seen along many of the local hiking trails in the Coconino National Forest. And if you happen to have infrared eyes, they really stand out.

Tech info: Nikon D3200 camera (modified for infrared with 590nm filter), Nikon 18-140mm lens at 22mm, 1/400 sec. at f8, ISO 200.
