We have a ton of these critters in our area and they are a pain. Raccoons are the primary host of Baylisascaris procyonis, a roundworm that can be harmful to people. Roundworm eggs are passed in the feces of infected raccoons, and people become infected by ingesting eggs. These guys have been using my roof as the community latrine!!

No, he wasn't a fighter. He found that cubbyhole in the base of the tree to keep out of the cold wind. He didn't want to go anywhere.
