Backlit Eagle

I spent some time by the Libby Dam in northern Montana today hoping to find some wildlife along the Kootenai River. This bald eagle was what I found, although these photos don't hold a candle to some of the recent posts.

1) Backlit with some light snowfall. It flew away soon after this, but of course I was repositioning and missed the take off.

2) A little further away when it landed again

Any thoughts are welcome

There seems to be one guarantee with bird photography that I have noticed, the moment you put down the camera to move your position that is when the bird will move and fly... It doesn't matter if it's been 10 minutes or 1 hour, the moment you aren't ready to shoot, it will move. :)

Very nice images Kyle. I agree we have had some awesome Bald Eagle photos posted recently, but I am glad you posted these. My favorite I think is #2.

Nice Photos, My Motto is always, "The best part of wildlife photography is not either getting or not getting the shot, it is the experience to actually be out there enjoying the sights and sounds of Nature. Besides, I am always planning a "next time" to get out again to try for that perfect shot!" Thanks for Sharing!
