An epic trip is completed, as is the epic job of culling and editing all the shutter clicks it produced.
Having visited 13 years ago ion a very short 'flighht layover' 3 night visit, it was always planned to come back and do a much longer trip. Mission accomplished. In those 13 years, tourism has expanded by a factor of at least 5, but still a very impressive place. the crowds did thin out as we headed west and then north. We did the entire circumference of the country, and also one excursion into the interior (unfortunately on the one of the worst weather days of the trip). Once we got away from the capital and the southern areas the crowds did thin out. Weather actually was mostly better than expected. And the sights did not disappoint. As is often the case for me, my favorite captures often came at non descript places along our route instead of the many more popular tourist site.
Starting off, here are a couple summer views from the the 'Hringvegur' (Ring Road) heading up into the northwest. As you can see, the flowers were nothing short of incredible, lining the highway for miles at a time in many places.
As always comments, ctitiques, and questions most welcome. I will not post all my keepers from this long trip but will pick and choose a handful of favorites to post.
