The original Panasonic S1R had, charitably, a lousy focusing system. Panasonic greatly improved it in the S1R2, providing the kinds of subject detections that we've come to expect from modern mirrorless cameras. Combined with a 40 fps electronic shutter and excellent high ISO performance, I figured it could serve as a solid wildlife system.
I recently purchased the Sigma 500mm f/5.6 L-mount lens, which is significantly lighter than the Canon 500 f/4 that is my best long lens. I paired it with a Panasonic 1.4x extender for these images. I felt the system worked very well.
Any thoughts are welcome.
