Athabasca Falls

This was taken in autumn a couple of years ago. The biggest hazard getting to this spot is fighting through the tour bus crowds. Still well worth a visit! I liked the light on Mount Kerkeslin and the clouds framing it. The challenge was controlling the dynamic range so I took several exposures for blending.

Any thoughts are welcome!

Nice one Kyle. The shadows on the falls helps balance the light across the darker portions of the image. Direct sunlight on those falls would overwhelm the scene. Really nice to have the mountain behind for this comp.

I almost wish you hadn't mentioned the tour buses - the scene looks so serene in this depiction.

Hey Kyle,

What a cool set of waterfalls with a very nice backdrop. Shooting with dappled light isn't easy, I think your processing handled it pretty well. I would probably still darken the small lit up areas on the rocks to the left of the waterfall. They are still bright enough that my eyes keep getting drug away from the waterfall itself and on to those brighter rocks.

Love the light on the mountain and the sky. My brain wants to see more of the falls...they seem a bit cut off. Don't know if that was even possible though.
