Artist Sunset

I was in Death Valley yesterday (Sunday) to capture the Milky Way. I chose the Artist Palette Overlook as my area to set up. There were afternoon clouds that were forecast to clear up after sunset. So I hoped they hung around, and they did.

Not nuclear colors, but solid sunset colors.

Nice pastel sunset - the subtle tones in the sky match the subtle tones of the terrain in the foreground. Other than the hint of blue down in front you really wouldn't know about the color palette of the formations behind you with this view.

Jim, nice spot you picked. I was reading the weather forecast of Death Valley NP, it was getting to 100F , hope you enjoy the warm & toasty beers.

Thanks Alan!

The clouds were away from the Artist Palette, so mainly browns when looking to the West from there. I like the leading line of the path that goes along the ridges.

It was 93 when I was there. The low temp that night was hotter then the hot temp here at Mono Lake.
