Arizona Winter Birds

Some of the least colorful birds are found in my desert local.

Black-chinned sparrows look similar to Juncos but have brown sparrow colors and patterns on their dorsum

Black-throated sparrow on jumping cholla

Blue-gray gnatcatcher

Berwick's wren

Cactus wren on Cholla cactus

Are these birds that come in from elsewhere just for winter or just ones you see more often in the winter 'cuz they never left and others did? They look colorful enough with your portraits of them

Most of these are year-round residents. The black-chinned sparrows migrate from the top of Mingus Mountains to the valley for winter. The orioles and colorful birds are long gone.

Awesome work Eric! The birds may not be very colorful, but the sharpness and detail along with the poses makes one not even notice a lack of coloring.
