Arctic Ground Squirrel

This was taken while I was on a hike along the Savage River in Denali National Park, AK last September. I'd never been able to get this close to a squirrel before; perhaps the squirrel was just used to people? For this shot I used the 100-300mm lens.

So you did a trip to Denali too? I was up there about 10 or 12 years ago.

Yep, a friend and I flew into Anchorage and then took a train to Denali. I was lucky enough to see Denali with my own eyes through the clouds. The trip was about a week long, far too short. I will return someday.

cute little bugger! Most Squirrels are very skittish so good job on getting close. The Squirrles where I currently live are way to friendly, I thought one was going to climb up my leg the other day.
