Anyone out there capturing the Blood Moon Eclipse?

I am at a local park in SoCal, I had to deal with lots of high wires, and tons of thermal waves along the horizon. It was already about 75% into the eclipse as it rose here.

But it finally rose, I am currently videoing it in the red blood stage. But I did take some photos too.

Up in the very early morning for what could have been the perfect shot of the blood moon setting over the Lake District hills. But just like Graeme it was raining here. Ken

Let me preface this by saying I am not equipped for night photography or shooting the moon. I even forgot my tripod because it’s in my car, and my car has been locked in the employee parking lot over the weekend.

By The time of the moonrise over the White Mountains above Bishop, the eclipse was nearly full. I gasped when I first saw it. It was a clear sky to the east.

I got this shot by standing on the bumper of my work truck and anchoring the camera in place with various objects such as a first-aid kit, another lens, a lens cap and part of the camper shell's body design; the "ghetto tripod", if you will.

I used the 300 mm lens for this effort, but I had to manually focus. f/5.6, 1/3, 100 ISO. I eventually switched to a higher ISO.

For this one, the details were f/5.6, 1/6, 12800 ISO:

Nice captures, everyone! I wanted to shoot it but unfortunately was tired and went to bed an hour beforehand. Last thing I did was process a decent rainbow pano from earlier that evening...

Looking at my pictures
On May 20, 2012 I captured the "Ring of Fire" solar eclipse down on Muley Point.
On Oct 8, 2014 I captured a blood moon lunar eclipse
On September 27, 2015 I captured another eclipse of some sort deep in Canyonlands.
Last night, although I had perfect conditions from my driveway, every single picture came out blurry & useless... Very aggravating.
So I have none. Argg.
Don't worrry though. The next one is November 7-8th of this year.

Oh man Craig, thanks that stinks!

Tonight is a full moon, you can practice on it! Full moons are fun to see.
