Another fly.

This Greenbottle fly was sitting on a raspberry leaf. It was sluggish due to the cool morning air and sat for a portrait. The proboscis with the hairy suction cup is visible.
These flies don't have mouth parts for chewing so they vomit up digestive juices to dissolve their food and then suck it up. Sounds delightful I know.

so shiny and colorful. the hairy proboscis is interesting, you don't see that on fly photos too often.

Incredible skills and a stunning macro — absolutely flawless! Thanks so much for following my Substack. I actually wrote a little fable today about the life of a fly… as told by the fly.

Thanks Eric.. I'm away on holidays so not able to keep up the same. I'm enjoying your Substack. I can read everything but can't seem to comment without signing up for an account so that is why you don't get any feedback from me. The stories are hilarious and so enjoyable.

Thanks so much for the kind words, Trent. I appreciate you reading along, and I’m glad the stories are landing well with you! Totally understand about the comments; Substack can be a bit limiting without an account. No worries at all — just knowing you're enjoying it is more than enough.

Hope you’re having a fantastic holiday and getting some proper rest.
