An afternoon exploration

I did some Google map research to find new spots on the American Fork River. This afternoon I drove up and hiked into some areas I have never done before. The images below taken in mid afternoon in harsh light and late winter foliage does not do the place justice but as said, this was a scout.

We are not in lock down and I was very well isolated.

Nice sampling of what's there. The scene in the first image looks like this might be a seriously neat place for a visit in the fall with changing leaves. I definitely like what you are doing with falling water shots these days :D

Very cool indeed Ben! It's great to see you out exploring.

Are the branches in #1 just bare branches that will grow leaves or are they dead branches?

My favorites are #3, 4 and 6.

When I was looking at #1, I saw a crop in my mind and I was hoping you had done that crop, I didn't see in in #2 or 3, but in #4, that's exactly what I liked most from #1.

You found some nice places to shoot, Ben! Looking forward to seeing them in different seasons.

Thanks Jim for featured post, much appreciated. Thanks to the rest of you for your comments. More Google searches have shown a few other candidates along this river.

You're lucky to have such beauty close at hand. Glad you could get out. I'm itching to go skiing with nice new snow, but I'm following the local guidelines to shelter in place.

I think #1 will be a great location int eh right conditions, it has a lot to offer. #3 is a favorite as well, but I am a sucker for those big spillover rocks.

I have watched almost the entire online library that Ben Horne has on YouTube during this isolation...his voice is soothing and calming, but his approach is something that reminds me to slow down, scout more, be much more intentional in what you look for and eventually shoot. I need to do that more, and do more of what you have done here, get out, see it and mentally bookmark it.

Ben.. very nice
Sometimes it’s more about the journey...
Of this group the last is my favorite. I really like the pour off. Stay safe and congrats on the DFP

Thanks again for all the kind comments. I also like the last one, but is really messy and I was just barely able to get down to it. I need to go back and clean out some brush, or maybe the spring runoff will do it for me.

The water was really clear, but when the spring runoff starts will be pretty cloudy for a month or so. But will return.
