If you're talking about me, the answer is no. If you're talking about the bird, yes. The purpose of coots sprinting is to gain speed for take-off

Great action shot. We seem to have a surplus of Coots around here this year. I have spend some time watching their behavior, and I haven't seen too many expend this much energy. They are such a odd little bird, and those feet....
