Always Remember to Turn Around

It's always a Good Idea(TM) to check what's behind you when you are focused on shooting something nice like last Saturday's sunrise. In this case I knew the whole reason for the great sunrise was an approaching storm from the west so I wanted to see how far away the rain was. I got so excited seeing more sunrise colors and rainbows I switched to portrait mode on my 28mm lens and shot the 6 panel panorama sequence you see here. The dark shadow in between the rainbow segments is the shadow of Mt. Hood off to the east. I did however mistake the location of the rainbows for the location of the approaching rain that can be seen on the right and the first drops hit my head less than 2 minutes later so I had to get my drone down quickly and duck inside. The rainbows were the leading edge of heavy showers that dropped over 2.5" before it all stopped Sunday night.

Lot easier to see 360 degrees around you when flying a drone.

That gap in the color is an interesting twist for this sequence. Nice work.
Thanks Jameel - fully agree - it's easy to just spin around in place. I could actually see Mt. Hood's shadow across the whole sky but I wasn't expecting so much reflected color 180º from the sunrise color show and the two rainbows.

Thanks Oliver - you gotta have rain for there to be a rainbow and the top of this storm front was nowhere near tall enough to complete the prismatic arch. I was pretty amazed there was a rainbow at all to be honest.
