Sirmione is, according to the online guides, a charming village at the end of a 2 mile peninsula sticking out into Lake Garda. Lake Garda is the largest of the Italian Lakes and is 32 miles long with the Southern end in the Northern Italian plane and the Northern end into the Alps. We took the bus a supposed 50 mile trip that was in reality 150 minutes.
Looking East towards Verona with a storm starting to build.
Looking North West with the tip of Sirmione on the right and the Alpine foothills just appearing out of the atmospheric haze that plagued our visit. The view to the North should have shown the mountains but all that could be seen was atmospheric haze.
Sirmione may once have been a charming village but is now full of expensive hotels at the Northern tip and scores of ice cream parlours, cafes, restaurants and tourist tat shops in the centre.
This image taken from a ferry that we boarded to sail back to a town with a railway station.
In the end not a great trip but my wife had a swim which she thoroughly enjoyed. Ken
