A Quiet Spot Along the River

I probably stopped at every bridge I encountered in the coastal forests a few weeks back since the deciduous trees thrive along the banks of the river where there is often a break in the conifers. If you wanted to get somewhere in a hurry riding with me in my truck that day would not have been the best plan. This is the North Fork of the Smith River.

Bridges can offer brief windows into a location. I like stopping at them too! :)

And I like what the view yielded you here.

Thanks Jim - the nice part about the North Fork road is that it kind of zigzags and crosses the river a lot which meant all the more stops for me :)

Again a nice peaceful place, with nice autumn colours. I like this picture, Alan. 👍
Thanks Peter - what made the drive even more peaceful was a dearth of other visitors. I only saw a handful of other vehicles on the road for almost the whole afternoon.

Very nice view. I like the reflection of the fall colors in the water. Are there pull outs close to the bridges to stop and shoot?
Thanks Jameel - there was usually at least one turnout near every bridge. The road itself is single track with almost no shoulders so if you encounter another vehicle one of you has to pull over into one of the turnouts in order to pass. I have had to back up for a couple hundred yards on at least one occasion on some of these forest roads.
