A Little More Ice

A couple more scenes from our recent freezing rain. The first one is a Birch tree and the second one is a Japanese Maple. The maple bark as a fair amount of lichen on the branches with is a bit more colorful under the ice. Most of the ice has melted down in the urban area but the Gorge is still socked in with ongoing ice storms.

Hopefully the trees survive the freeze. Makes for a fun image.
Thanks Jameel - happily no significant damage to any of our trees. Portland was a very different story and especially closer to the mouth of the Gorge. We might even make it up to 40F today - haven‘t seen that for overa week now.

Alan, Great job on these photo's. I love the more simplistic form of photo #2. The overcast sky plays wonderfully well with the chaotic nature of the Ice on the tree branches. Well done!

Many thanks Roger - we haven't had much nice photo weather this month so I was out to get anything I could for photo subjects :)

That second image looks cool - almost looks like a posterize filter!
Thanks Michael - the (endlessly) gray skies helped with the translucence effect. I was under the impression that Portland got more ice than we did up in NW Vancouver since we are farther away from the mouth of the Gorge. Troutdale and Washougal got clobbered.
