I made a quick trip to Wyoming last week (when Jim Fox was at the Ames Memorial). The road I camp off of outside of the Tetons was only open halfway, but I was lucky enough to get my preferred site (about the only one that has trees for shelter even if it doesn't have the jaw dropping view of the Tetons -- have to walk maybe 5 minutes for that). There was, of course, a young couple who decided that road closures didn't apply to them and they camped in the closed area
. I just don't get how people who supposedly love the outdoors can't respect it.
The obligatory Tetons shot.
And on to the wildflowers. Obviously, mostly Dodecatheons in bloom.
For this one, I liked the chaos of other foliage, but can see how the OOF foreground is too much. Let me know what you think.
Shooting stars/Dodecatheons were plentiful
Yellow fritillary
I'll be back in early-mid June for the (hopefully) full show.
Then I stopped at the Kendall Warm Springs north of Pinedale to check on the flowers there. Only some vetch in bloom, so I walked up to where the springs emerged from the hillside. Got my feet a little wet, but since the water is 85 degrees where it comes out, I didn't mind at all. It reminded me of a miniature version of Elves' Cavern in the Grand Canyon.
