A Few Early Season Flowers in Wyoming

I made a quick trip to Wyoming last week (when Jim Fox was at the Ames Memorial). The road I camp off of outside of the Tetons was only open halfway, but I was lucky enough to get my preferred site (about the only one that has trees for shelter even if it doesn't have the jaw dropping view of the Tetons -- have to walk maybe 5 minutes for that). There was, of course, a young couple who decided that road closures didn't apply to them and they camped in the closed area  . I just don't get how people who supposedly love the outdoors can't respect it.

The obligatory Tetons shot.

And on to the wildflowers. Obviously, mostly Dodecatheons in bloom.

For this one, I liked the chaos of other foliage, but can see how the OOF foreground is too much. Let me know what you think.

I'll be back in early-mid June for the (hopefully) full show.

Then I stopped at the Kendall Warm Springs north of Pinedale to check on the flowers there. Only some vetch in bloom, so I walked up to where the springs emerged from the hillside. Got my feet a little wet, but since the water is 85 degrees where it comes out, I didn't mind at all. It reminded me of a miniature version of Elves' Cavern in the Grand Canyon.

I'd walk 5 minutes for that view of the Tetons. I like the shooting star shots in #3 and #4. The second image seems a bit on the busy side wth the OOF vegetation surrounding the subject blooms. Not sure I have ever seen a Yellow fritillary before - neat looking flower. The falls are quite nice as well. That does look like some tough light for the falls.

Ideal for the falls would be an overcast day. In the afternoon, it would be in full sun. As it was, I had to really bring out the water in post since I had to expose to the left to keep the bottom foliage from blowing out.
