Seems like another fine day for celebrating falling water with a Waterfall Wednesday thread :)
My falls for this week show a scene at the upper end of Gibbon Falls in Yellowstone National Park. This wasn't the best time of day to get good light on a sunny day but it was the light I had when I...
A really nice display of potted chrysanthemums outside a store I wandered into yesterday. I decided I had to grab a shot on my way out the door.
C&C always welcome.
I was out checking things in my yard and noticed that the top of my Japanese Maple is starting to show some rather serious signs of fall color. This feels like almost a month too early for displays like this. We might be in for an interesting fall.....
C&C always welcome.
A lot of the color in the Oregon Coast Range is in the forest understory below the evergreen canopy with mostly yellows and orange dominating the palette. This is an example of that from the Herman Peak Road in the Siuslaw National Forest above Florence.
C&C always welcome.
If you have some shots of waterfalls this is the place to post them. Whether its a tiny flow of water or a torrent, crashing over a tall cliff or dribbling over some concrete it still counts as falling water and is welcome here.
My offering for today is a shot from Silver Falls State Park in...
Fall colors tend to be quite muted in an evergreen forest compared to the vast stand of deciduous trees in the midwest and the east but they do shout fall in their own way closer to the ground. In this example you are looking at the view from one of the many bridges that cross the North Fork of...
The Smith River in Oregon is between the Siuslaw River that flows into Florence and the Umpqua River that meets the Pacific near Reedsport and flows into the Umpqua near the town of Gardiner. This is the scene looking upstream along the road that follows the Smith near its confluence with the...
Fall colors can be quite subtle in the Cascades and is often confined to the ground layers around the spruce and firs. This is a good example of that during an early October visit in the Reflection Lakes area of Mt. Rainier National Park.
C&C always welcome.
Welcome to another Wednesday and another round of falling water.
My falling water for today is a small scene along Paradise Creek in Mt. Rainier National Park just upstream from Ruby Falls. There isn't much of a path through the forest along the creek and few good viewpoints but I did manage to...
From a nice sunset from last week looking north along the Columbia River. The distant squall had some really nice lighting and I was keeping an eye on the colors it was showing as the sunset progressed. Four shots at 70mm.
C&C always welcome.
We had a really colorful sunrise last week that included this scene with the moon setting over Vancouver Lake and the Columbia River Valley. The image is a four panel panorama shot at 70mm. Best viewed large on a big monitor.
C&C always welcome.
We had a set of storms pass through a couple of days ago with a clearing right around time for the sunset. The show to the west was a bust but the lingering clouds over the Cascades caught some nice lights so I decided to grab a few shots. Just for grins I dialed up the 168mm telephoto lens and...
Another week and another round of falling water :)
My falls for today have no formal name and neither does the creek that feeds them. This is in Glacier National Park on the east side of Lake Josephine. In this image the view is from the Grinnell Glacier trail using a 400mm lens during a fall...
A couple of nights ago the winds shifted to coming out of the NW and scoured out enough of the wildfire smoke to give us a view of the mountains for the first time in weeks. There were a few clouds so I launched my drone hoping for a nice sunset. I turned my drone around to see what the...
There is an issue with Uploading Photos (attachjments). I am not sure what the problem is, and I am looking into it. You can still try to Create your Threads and Upload your Photos, but it is hanging up during the Upload.
