Fun time the other day at Whitaker Ponds in NE Portland, OR.

Watching a pair of young Barred Owls in terrible light (hence the B&W presentation of the pair roosted). Later saw the adult capture a snake and after beaking it for a while handed it off to one of the young ones.

Again, on a birding trip to the Chiricahua Mts area, we spotted several species of Woodpeckers (Sapsuckers). Ladder-backed Woodpecker Acorn Woodpecker Ladder-backed Red-napped Sapsucker Arizona Woodpecker several species

Spent 5 days in the Portal, AZ area near the Chiricahua Mts. Here is a common Hummie seen at feeders and in the wild.

Again, Titlow did not disappoint. Red-breasted Sapsucker Wilson's Warbler Sleepy Mallard a Couplet of Skimmers (??)

Playing around with some old images. Enhanced the shadows a bit using the Clarity slider in Lightroom. The second one taken at a different time. Sorta like the little "Cloud" in front of the middle muffin.

Love these guys, well actually this gir! Females have that rusty stripe making them the more colorful of the genders.

Again, Titlow Park in Tacoma did not let us down. Got a chance to observe this Pileated Woodpecker doing some thorough preening. The Sapsuckers were flitting around from tree to tree. I don't see these guys very often and to capture 2 was a treat!

Always fun to hear these guys but more so if you can find them. And we did and this guy stayed put while preening even thought it knew we were there!

These guys were far off but couldn't resist the temptation to shoot anyway. Serious crop and processing. IQ suffered but you get the idea! Female on the bottom/

Spent the weekend in search of Snow Geese primarily in the Skagit Valley, north of Seattle, WA. The geese did not disappoint. For some strange reason I really liked a B+W version of this image so here it is.

Taken at our favorite local park. The BE pair seems to be checking out a nest that was use a couple years ago but vacant last year. Got these two take-off shots yesterday.

Love this species and was fortunate to find one upon cactus in San Jose del Cabo a while back.
