    Lake Manly @ Dusk

I agree with the other comments about the vignette. It's too much and it obscures your subject. Consider dialing it back a little bit.

    Coast to coast in April

How long does it typically take you to drive coast to coast? I've not done the drive (yet) but it's on the list. Would 3 weeks be enough time?

That's pretty, Alan. This reminds me of when I found a single radish in my garden last month. I don't remember planting it!

My take on the 2026 flowers in Death Valley

I wrote in @MonikaC's post about her excursion into Death Valley that I visited the area "a few weeks ago". I actually went there all the way back on February 14! Anyway, these images were just one part of a day trip during which I drove nearly 500 miles. It started in Bakersfield at sunrise. I...

Lake Manly and wildflowers in DeVa

I took photos of the same patches Monika displayed here. I drove over Jubilee Pass from Shoshone, through Badwater and past Lake Manly, and back to Bishop via Stovepipe Wells and Panamint. The lake is smaller than it was a few years ago too.

Lake Manly and wildflowers in DeVa

Nice shots, Monika. I went out there to shoot wildflowers a few weeks ago. Frankly, the flowers a few years ago were better and more numerous. Of course, the media has overblown the “superbloom”.

    Waterfall Wednesday 3/11/2026

The water in Te Manaroa spring is boiling and I’ve seen temperature estimates as high as 100 degrees C. Depending on the wind direction, the spring can be difficult to photograph because of all the steam.

Winged Wednesday 3.11.2026 — Bird Portraits

This is a phone shot of a heron that hangs out within a road project in town. One of the inspectors told me that he’s seen this guy in other parts of the project and isn’t disturbed whatsoever by the work.

Do icicles count for waterfall Wednesday, Alan? This one formed on my patio during a snowstorm earlier this month.

Thanks, Michael. I'll give it a shot after I figure out what's making the knocking sound in my truck.

Winged Wednesday 2/25/2025: Black and White (No Gray Area)

Thanks, Eric. I had a similar experience. There were a group of rails that usually could be seen on or around the walkway at the resort. They didn’t mind people walking by.
