The next part of this journey is a visit to White Pocket. This required two hours of off-roading to reach this area and we arrived just before sunset. This area consists of wave like formations in the rock making for some great photographic possibilities. From the recent rains, some pools of...
This image is taken high above Lee's Ferry looking down river at the beginning of the Grand Canyon. Journey to this spot requires high clearance 4x4 vehicles so the journey was half the fun. We enjoyed this view without anyone else around making the scene all the more majestic.
To get this shot, we woke up at 3am, drove 10 miles off road at 5 mph and hiked 1.5 miles. We didn't see another person the entire time. We just made it before sunrise and rewarded with this view. This is not Horseshoe Bend but another bend in the Colorado River much less accessible. Damn...
I've been on the road for the past week in the southwest. This image is from a couple of days ago during an overnight at Shiprock in New Mexico. When we arrived, the skies were gray, the wind was gusting to 40 mph and the sky was gray. I was hoping for some blowing sand or maybe a long exposure...
I was given the honor to photograph the celebration of a local music talent (Mary Jane Alm) on the occasion of her 50 years in the music business. She's received many awards and is in the Minnesota Music Hall of Fame. It was a joyful celebration and I glad I could participate. I shot the show in...
It's quite humid here today and I knew my lens would instantly fog (My wife likes to keep the house quite cool with A/C). Despite it being a bright sunny day, it looks quite gloomy . . .
Similar to my most recent drone post, this was taken with my camera. I was flying the drone and photographing with camera at the same time. Multi tasking . . .
The annual Spirit of the Lakes Festival took place this weekend with a fireworks display that was simpily awesome. I am fortunate enough to watch the show from my back yard. We had invited some friends and our kids, had a nice barbecue dinner and went for a boat ride before the show. We feel...
I did a photoshoot for Habitat for Humanity yesterday at a home under construction. The basement light was simply awesome and I caught the project supervisor looking out.
Sometimes I like to wander through older pics and use the tools that are available now that weren't available back when I took the image. This one only took some slight tweaks using Lightroom Classic masking tools but I like the result.
A neighbor sets off a fireworks display that rivals many towns. A good chance to try some long exposures with the drone. This image is a blend of four images, each 2.5 seconds, auto aligned in photoshop and processed in Lightroom. These drones are truly amazing that you shoot at such slow...
Tonight it appeared that the clouds would block any chance of seeing a sunset. However, after sunset, the sky and the water turned purple! I almost missed it.
I was hoping for some bolts of lightning as the storm moved in from the west, but the lightning was behind the clouds. Still, this gives a good impression of the incoming storm and much needed rain.
There is an issue with Uploading Photos (attachjments). I am not sure what the problem is, and I am looking into it. You can still try to Create your Threads and Upload your Photos, but it is hanging up during the Upload.
