This is the closest I have ever been to this species, most times they are either out to sea or on a colony on a stack Island off the coast.

I have been privileged to visit several of the places Elephant seals come ashore along the California Coast. This photo was taken at Ana Nuevo State Park, north of Santa Cruz. They have docent walks and one weekend in Feb. they have a photo day that you can spend a morning or afternoon...

Beautifully done! Most time I see logs in waterfalls they seem to distract from the scene; this one adds to it.
