Beautiful work, Alan. The Wood Duck drake is stunning! I think the others might be juvenile wigeons—either way, it’s a terrific scene and beautifully photographed.
That’s a clever and fun edit, Larry! The transformation is impressive — I love how you turned a cluttered scene into clean art. The B&W version adds a whole new mood too.
Thanks, Doug.
First the internet went out multiple times. Then the power joined in—apparently in a show of solidarity against productivity.
At that point, I figured the universe had launched an organized protest to prevent Winged Wednesday from happening om Wednesday.
Between the blinking...
It’s Winged Wednesday, where feathers, flutters, and flight steal the show! Whether it chirps, buzzes, glides, or hovers—if it takes to the air, it belongs here.
This week, I’m sharing a few photos straight from my own backyard. Yesterday’s weather served up thundershowers and drama, but...
That’s a fabulous scene, Roger. You can feel the tension in every feather—the Green Heron coiled like a spring, all focus and patience. The intensity practically hums off the frame.
Welcome home, Trent! Those five shots are spectacular—proof that even Denmark’s wind and rain can’t dampen a good birder’s eye. Sounds like Fanø Island rewarded your perseverance beautifully. Hope Saskatoon feels just a little less gray after that adventure!
All 5 photos are awesome. The...
Beautifully photographed, Alan, the Canada Jay looks right at home on that stone wall. I always carry trail mix when I’m in Canada Jay habitat; they’ll happily eat right from your hand!

This week is open to anything with wings. Inspired again by Jeffrey’s recent posts, I’ll be sharing bird photos from my journey to...
Fantastic photo, Roger!!!
Two ladies of the house, top Mallard hen, bottom i think is a pintail hen. I'll be home in a week, I'll get a better look on monitor than my phone

This week is open to anything that takes to the air. Inspired by Jeffrey’s post last week, I’ll be sharing bird photos from my...
Can’t wait to see your Denmark photos, Trent. That Great Tit is dressed to impress, and the fruit fly? Pure Trent—bathed in your trademark soft light with every detail sparkling.
Thanks, Alan, for showing up every week and always posting photos worth seeing. The stormy shore with the Black Oystercatchers is terrific—40 years ago, when I was listing my sightings, this species was my 500th ABA bird. Wonderful to see them again through your lens. And your shot of the...
Jeffrey, all five of your Pantanal photos are exceptional. The Jabiru storks in the nest are fabulous—I climbed that same high tower for a similar view. We always called the Rusty-margined Guan a Chestnut-bellied Guan, though I’ve never been entirely sure which name is right. Your Boat-billed...
