I have a small scene today from a place I might be visiting before the day is out - Ruby Falls in Mt. Rainier National Park. In this case shot in 2011 on a previous visit to the park.
Add whatever you have depicting falling water :)
Gazing out my window at yet another cloudless sunrise I grabbed an unprocessed pano sequence from last January to inspire me instead. Mid winter is usually the best for neat color shows like this one. Three panels at 70mm from roughly 130' above ground level.
C&C always welcome.
This is the view looking south across the high meadows above Paradise Inn at Mt. Rainier NP. A bit of a hazy day due to drifting smoke from a wildfire somewhere upwind from Mt. Rainier. This is a 3 shot panorama using the shift more on a 24mm TS-E lens.
C&C always welcome.
A number of years back I used to have a photo membership at the Portland Japanese Gardens and Sunday mornings would typically find me strolling the grounds with my camera in hand. Fall can be quite colorful in these gardens even in the early stages of the season. This scene shows Heavenly Falls...
A coastal sunset scene that got swept up in processing experiments with DxO PhotoLab (PL) comparisons. The scene is a December sunset at Harris Beach State Park on the Oregon coast that had some challenging light. I have thousands of unprocessed images from Harris Beach so that stash has been a...
I have been fiddling around with a trial copy of DxO's PhotoLab 9 and looking around for captures that had difficult light and found this image from Harris Beach State Park. One of the things that PhotoLab can do well is balance extreme light using spot targets you flag to identify the range of...
Hard to believe but this week marks 8 years worth of Waterfall Wednesdays. Happily the laws of gravity still work just fine and water keeps falling :)
My offering today is a set of falls on the Olympic Peninsula named Madison Falls. I was visiting a friend in Sequim and he mentioned that I...
A slightly different take on the site known as House on Fire in Mule Canyon. I shot the usual scene earlier that morning when the light had set up the scene so often photographed and then wandered farther up the wash to check out other sites. I stopped back at this site on the way back and...
Not exactly a path lined with flowers since this is the Queens Garden trail in Bryce Canyon. I was trying out DxO's PhotoLab 9 to see if the new version had anything new compared to PhotoLab 8 which I already have. Nothing really jumped out at me for major changes at least at first glance...
I am an absolute sucker for hanging out watching waves along the Oregon coast during the winter months when the Pacific is churning with activity from storms. This is a nice example of a captivating set of waves during an early February visit to Harris Beach State Park.
C&C always welcome...
I am still trying to catch up from all the amazing color shows I got over the last couple of weeks and this one is from late August. A 70mm panorama from a sunset that kept going for so long I had to bring my drone down and put in a fresh battery to get this shot so well over 1/2 hour worth of...
I keep thinking the endless parade of colorful sunset clouds is going to end but they just keep coming. This one is from last Tuesday. Four panels at 24mm. Best viewed on a large screen.
C&C always welcome.
I have one more shot from Elowah Falls today with a 3 shot vertical telephoto panorama. This was shot in mid winter so a pretty good flow in McCord Creek compared to what you would see here during the summer and fall months. This closer view of the cliff walls does a nice job of showing off the...
I was looking at previous captures of the fall colors in the Columbia River Gorge and noticed this scene from October of 2023. The timestamp is 10/12/2023 so we are at a point where early colors might be getting started. The colors in 2023 were far beyond the usual range of the fall displays but...
An article from the New York Times suggests that the current administration is about to end DJI's access to the U.S. markets:

Congress had added an...
A small scene along the far shore of Reflection Lake in Mt. Rainier National Park. Shot on a quiet morning in early October about ten years ago.
C&C always welcome.
All due apologies to Deep Purple for the title but it seemed to fit well here. This is from Friday night's sunset that I posted a panorama of yesterday but this time at 400' above the ground using a 70mm lens. I wasn't sure I could do much with these shots since there was so much visible smoke...
I was in a part of my house where I couldn't see the sky when last night's sunset started and colors were going wild when I came upstairs. I grabbed my drone and launched it immediately before it had satellites locked so the drone software stopped my ascent at 100' until it could establish GPS...
While I was looking through images for John's Thursday Task reflections theme I came across an overlooked and unprocessed image from Bandon that seemed worth playing with. This was a low tide sunset looking out towards Face Rock from Coquille Beach.
C&C always welcome.
My falls for today are a bit of a What Was tale. One of my favorite places in the Gorge was a neat short hike through dense forest followed by the trail dropping down into an overgrown basin featuring Elowah Falls. This is a view of the falls through the trees from a springtime visit in 2008...
There is an issue with Uploading Photos (attachjments). I am not sure what the problem is, and I am looking into it. You can still try to Create your Threads and Upload your Photos, but it is hanging up during the Upload.
