Thanks Jim. There are around 1800! Not sure how many of those are suitable for us mere mortals to shoot though. I have attached the LDN catalogue, which was kindly produced by a FB group I belong to called UK Cloud Magnets.
Hi Jim,
Love this wide field shot, its something I struggle to get with my set up (unless I go down the multiple mosaic route). I really like the hydrogen detail and that OIII around the crescent is great! My only comment (for what its worth), and its purely a personal taste thing, is that I...
Continuing my theme on dark nebulae:
This image contains (amongst other things) Barnard 150 (LDN1082), also known as The Seahorse Nebula.
These dark nebulae are becoming a firm favourite of mine, and Cepheus if full of them. Next up will be The Scorpion Nebula (LDN1147).
The full res image...
Thanks Mike, that's very kind. I was pleased with how I was able to pull out the detail, I do enjoy processing these dark nebulae. The current one I am working on is LDN1082, again in Cepheus. That is a constellation that just keeps on giving :)
Another from what will become my dark nebulae series.
The Dark Shark Nebula (LDN1235) is part of a large molecular cloud in the constellation Cepheus. LDN1235 actually corresponds to the ‘eye’ of the shark, which, together with other dark nebulae in the region give the form of a shark. Within...
Thanks Mike, and thanks for dropping in on my Astrobin account. I'm really getting in to these dark nebulae regions; some very interesting compositions to be made.
This is a 2-panel mosaic of an area of space in the constellation of Perseus. The whole starfield is obscured by stardust, with patches of orange and red denoting areas of star formation.
The area towards the top of the image is dominated by NGC 1333; the blue hues of this reflection nebula...
Fantastic Jim! This has been on my to-do list for some time now. Still trying to figure out how to set up for it. I have the ASI2600MC and was thinking of coupling it up with a Sigma 18-150mm lens; but am not sure on what spacers I need. Seeing this has jump started me to get on and give it a go.
There is an issue with Uploading Photos (attachjments). I am not sure what the problem is, and I am looking into it. You can still try to Create your Threads and Upload your Photos, but it is hanging up during the Upload.
