Winged Wednesday 5/21/2025: The Art of the Egret

I knew you'd ask! Sony a1 II and 28-70 f2 lens. I already have been using an A1 II for my birds with a 200-600 and needed a backup. This one is setup for general and landscape imaging. I have stored camera setup files for both scenarios and both cameras are then identical.

Winged Wednesday 5/21/2025: The Art of the Egret

Bee #1. Only because it's the first one I've photographed that I've finished up. Handheld, in my home garden. Actually, I went to the garden to test a new body and lens that I just got this week, and there were bees. I didn't take much time or thought since I was sure they would never be...

    Waterfall Wednesday 5/14/2025

This was at the end of one of the pleasant side canyon hikes I did while exploring the bottom of the Grand Canyon on a raft last month. I don't remember the name of the place but I'm working on finding out.

    Mavic 4 Pro Specs

That's vaporware! It's an interpolated pixel count not based on the native resolution of the sensor. Beware of marketing bullshit.

Eric, so cool that you included an Oriole, cause that's the best bird image I made last week. A Bullock's Oriole. I didn't know they can stand on their toes!

    Fisher Towers in Grey

Fascinating. This must have been a very wide spread of original frames since there appears to be two light sources.

    The Owens River from Above

Tooling round eastern California near Bishop, we found a great spot for the night on the bluff overlooking the Owens River snaking through this lovely little valley. A drone vertical pano.

    The CO River in BW

Floating down the middle of the Colorado recently and the sky had a few ideas of its own. I was happy to get these conditions while on the water. Ten minutes later we got pelted with large hail and strong winds. Didn't last long, as is typical here. Of course, I titled this one "Impending Hail".

The Bottom of the Grand Canyon

Thanks Oliver. There's no charging. No cell service. No internet. No electricity. For ten days. I brought 12 batteries. I had a few unused by the end of the trip. I did have a power bank to charge my iPhone for quick pics.

    Mavic 4 Pro Specs

100 'effective' MP camera, whatever that means. So, is the file size the same as my Fuji GFX 100MP medium format camera? Does '1/1.3" sensor size' mean that it is actually a 1" x 1.3" rectangle? They are going to pack 100 MP into that space? Good luck. 16 stops of DR is pretty hard to...
