    These are beautiful flowers, especially when they occur in masses like this, Jim. I searched for an image like the close-up for a long time before finding the perfect subject. These are at a woodland in Illinois called Messenger Woods.

    This is an amazing plant. It spreads across floodplains and woodland floors during the spring. Up close, the flower buds are pink and turn a beautiful blue when they open. On floodplain. Close-up.
